Writing a Review
FOR EACH REQUIRED REVIEW:
Find someone who has no/few replies, and spread the love!
Read their synopsis (title, image, summary, bio, etc.) to get a feel for the piece (like reading the cover a book before cracking it open). Then, read the piece as a reader (letting yourself feel, think, and wonder whatever you might if you weren't given any guidance); approaching it this way makes you more useful since you can give raw/honest input about the impact the piece had on you.
As well, read the piece as a member of Freelancers, considering all we are and have been practicing via the resources provided (essays, pie paragraph, claim-driven, SIP, etc.); depending on the week, you may/may not be familiar with these resources... more info to come!
You might want to jot down a few notes as you read so that you can then WRITE A DISCUSSION REPLY/your review.

IN YOUR REVIEW:
Word count requirement? There isn't one! Include all of the parts above, including the two paragraphs, and make 2-3 points per paragraph. That should produce an amount of words worth reading, and a response of value that the writer can use for revision purposes. |

Hello A, I just want to start off by saying that I found you're article to get my attention; social media as an addiction is such an interesting topic! When I first started reading your introduction, I immediately knew what you were going to talk about because you were right on track explaining your topic which was about social media being an addiction and not many people realize the impacts it leaves on children, teens, and adults but also how social media can take away the privacy of individuals, as a teen myself I completely agree with this topic. I just recently added a screen time limit on TikTok to attempt to minimize my distraction, and I definitely realize how “sucked in” I can get to social media. Another strength of your article is how well organized your article was from the beginning to end, meaning how you talked about social media is like a drug to what happens when you stop social media. Finally, I liked how you talked about the positives of social media as well. You gave examples for why social media may seem so great, and why people would would to use it in addition to the after addiction point of view. Something else you might want to talk about is how social media portrays unrealistic expectations as far as appearance. As viewers, we are constantly comparing ourselves to others online. As well, we risk potential success in the working world when we use our accounts in informal ways. Then, there's the issue of everyone wanting to be YouTube famous these days. AND, social media can be a forum for bullying. Social media is forcing young adolescents to mature faster than ever because they see older people online & want to mimic their activities & apparel. There's just so much you could do with your topic! I encourage you to think about using one of these ideas to help you develop at least one more body paragraph and increase the depth of your thesis statement, or main point. I hope this is helpful to you! Overall great job, it was a great article that I enjoyed reading! :) -R |
